Herts Alpacas Grey Aramist
Description
In between the Covid-19 lockdowns in 2020 Herts Alpacas Grey Aramist and his friend and fellow stud Indie Sky (Indie), moved 250 miles north to live with us. Aramist is a lovely steel grey whereas his buddy Indie is rose grey. Thanks again to Nigel and Katie for giving us the opportunity to have these wonderful and complimentary stocky grey males with super pedigrees.
Aramist likes to think he’s one of the top dogs and is certainly near the top of the hierarchy in our stud field. He is incredibly muscular and carries a super grey fleece. Attitude-wise he takes no messing although once he’s on the head collar he is very manageable although will try and take you to see the ladies! His dam and sire are grey as are 3 of his 4 grandparents and 50% of his great grandparents. 25 out of his 40 offspring are grey including champions and a couple of double champions in the show ring.
Genetics – Nigel, at Herts Alpacas is heavily into his genetic profiling and has his favourites lines, with Aramist and Indie very much part of that. Aramist’s sire and dam’s line have some wonderful names including 2 spectacular grandsires Alpaca Stud Nyetimber and Cedar House Long John. Also featuring are Neptune of Houghton and The Golden Gun of ARU (Import).
Fleece – Grey is one of our most popular knitwear colours and Aramist’s steel grey is one of our most popular. The quality of fleece he’s passing on to his offspring is also really pleasing.
Personality – By nature he expects to be near the top of the pecking order, or if there’s open females about he expects to be first in line! Whilst he knows he’s very strong he is compliant on the head collar.
Colour – Steel Grey
Progeny – With a different and complimentary genetic profile to some of our other greys, Aramist is throwing us and our clients plenty of quality greys. Barnacre Indus and Barnacre Fotini are double grey champions (available to inspect), Dreamcoat Earl Grey is a Champion and Herts Alpacas Grey Storm Breaker is a double reserve champion.
