Our award-winning stud

We have been building our stable of stud males since 2008 to advance the quality of our herd and provide our clients with some of the world’s finest alpaca genetics.

Our stable

Our foray into stud males began with two through-and-through whites, Wellground Legend of Spartacus and Gianmarco’s Masterpiece who combined rare elite genetics from famous Australian EP Cambridge herd sires (EP Cambridge Peruvian Spartacus, Jolimont Commisario, Jolimont Gianmarco, Jolimont Sculptor and Jolimont Encantador). We learnt a lot and they produced some beautifully proportioned physical characteristics and fleeces.

Sandstorm is our homebred fawn Double Champion from EP Cambridge Little Miss Irraquoy and Cambridge Buckingham, whom we purchased from the 2008 British Alpaca Futurity elite auction.

Our brown herd sire, Inca Darwin was chosen due to his amazingly consistent and uniform colour, also his strong frame. He is from the Inca Alpaca stud, owned by alpaca judge and fleece expert Tim Hey and joined us at Barnacre in October 2013.

Wyona Sunburst is the most incredible Rose Grey, a 5 times Champion, from an elite breeding programme in Australia with a fleece displaying characteristics only found in superior whites. He is bred from a family of champions, has a striking eye catching presence and joined us on 11 March 2013.

Wyona Sunset Boulevarde. He is the most amazing, dense and consistent medium grey we have ever come across. A champion in the show ring with a rich and deep elite grey pedigree. We welcomed him on 18 August 2014.

From the Northumbrian alpaca herd we obtained 2 amazing stocky white males who produce outstanding fleeces: Northumbrian Pybba and Northumbrian Ida, who cut over 6kg of fleece!

Our recent home bred stud boys are the pinnacle of our 700+ cria and have done us proud both in the showring and through their progeny.

We have Barnacre Flint (medium grey) a quadruple show Champion, who is fine fleeced with a wonderful chilled out personality.

Barnacre Anubis (brown) is Mr Cool, a show Champion with a lovely fleece of great character and density.

Barnacre Merlin (fawn) is fine fleeced and wonderfully dense, he’s one of Debbie’s favourites!

Then we have our whites Barnacre Jasper, Thor and Bofur. Blimey where do we start? Jasper loves our walk n talks, cuts over 6kg of super fine fleece and is incredibly dense. Thor is a Supreme Champion and his fleece was described as “orgasmic” by Judge Rob Bettinson! Bofur comes from one of our strongest female lines and has an irreplacable sire Sandjo Heart Throb of Anzac.

In 2020 between lockdowns we somehow managed to add 2 more wonder boys to our stable. Herts Alpacas Grey Indie Sky is a fabulous rose grey alpaca and with his unrelated friend Herts Alpacas Grey Aramist, medium grey, we’re the place to come if grey is your thing (we love it).

2022 was a year of big investment to add new genetics and quality to our herd, as 4 new boys arrived! In a possible move to become Blackacre Alpacas 😉 we have 2 outstanding genetically unrelated black boys. Reden’s Chieftain and Reden’s Cromwell. Chieftain was one of Reden’s key stud males and interestingly is from a black dam and his sire is Eringa Park Golden Age of EPC, a fawn. We have seen and have some of his cria, they are spectacular! Cromwell caught our eye at the 2022 National Alpaca Show. He’s solid and conformationally sound black male with an extensive black pedigree including his sire Surtierra Shadow. He is full brother to Redens Dynamic the 2022 National Black Champion.

Also spotted at the 2022 National Alpaca show was Reden’s Dicaprio, an upstanding brown male with the densest fleece we have encountered! His sire is Fowberry Constantine, bringing in Fowberry Nobility, Top Account, Jolimont Commisario, EP Cambridge Peruvian Spartacus…some of our favourites! His dam’s side is heavily influence by black Australians, very exciting!

Number 4 of 2022 was Beck Brow No Jacket Required. What can we say?! The National Fawn Champion, in fact he’s a quintuple champion. His fleece stands on it’s own. He’s coloured tested as EEAa if that’s your thing. If you want a taste of the names in his pedigree, how about Timbertop CT Goldmine, Patagonia Celtic Rose and Lilyfield Jack of Spades.

2023 saw our blockbloster addition of Beck Brow Glory Daze, multiple halter and fleece Champion and Supreme Champion. He’s also the 2022 National Supreme Champion and Champion of Champion Fleece for the two years on the bounce. He’s incredible. White, fine, dense, great frame, wonderful personality and already the sire of a supreme champion. We’re very excited!!!!

We also have a small, elite group of spectacular young males who are destined to be herd sires some day soon, let us know if you want to meet them!

Our premium stud service has been designed to reflect the very best we have experienced and will include ‘on farm mating’ at our bespoke tranquil rural setting or ‘drive by’ matings (where you bring your lovely girl to us). We are available at a time of your choosing (subject to prior bookings).

We will openly share with you the last shorn fleece for each stud male, fleece histogram reports and full pedigree information. We are also be providing continuous and honest information about the progress of each male and their offspring.

Stud prices are set competitively mindful of the quality of genetics and evidence from the cria these boys have produced.
