Redens Cromwell

Redens Cromwell

Gender: Stud Male
Colour: Black
Date of birth: 30th June 2018

Description

Redens Cromwell caught our eye at the 2022 National Alpaca show, coming 2nd to Redens Dynamic, who went on to win black champion. On 17 May 2022 Cromwell moved 320 miles north from the stud line up of Redens Alpacas to join us and we’re thrilled to have him here, thanks Linda and Ron!.

Packed with wonderful true black fibre Redens Cromwell has a fine and dense fleece, at 24 micron in his 4th fleece he is an impressive male, He is a good looking alpaca with great conformation, a deep chest and good substance of bone. His father Surtierra Shadow was very successful in the show ring in Australia and likewise his mother Redens Vanilla, sired by Lillyfield Jack of Spades of Inca, in the UK. He is a gentle male that is easy to handle and has his first cria on the ground at Redens in 2022. Cromwell is black, black and more black! He is also a wonderful genetic and phenotype compliment to his best buddy, Redens Chieftain.

Genetics – His pedigree is largely Australian with black throughout the parents, grandparents and beyond. His sire is the stand out Surtierra Shadow, although we have come to learn that the dam’s influence is just as important and Redens Vanilla has 4 black offspring as well as picking up three 1st places, 2 Reserve and 1 Champion sash in the UK show ring.

Fleece – Here at Barnacre we make luxurious knitwear traceable to individual alpacas and so fleece quality is really important to us. Cromwell’s fleece is exceptional and is available for inspection here at Barnacre.

Personality – Very strong although easy to handle, he certainly likes the ladies! His best mate is Redens Chieftain and they are usually together near the front of the food queue.

Colour – Solid true black

Progeny – Cromwell’s first cria, Redens Gizmo, is a lovely black male born at Redens in July 2022. His first cria is due here at Barnacre in June 2023 with, fingers crossed, another 7 to follow. We have put him over 3 black, a grey, beige and 2 browns. Five of the dams have given a positive scan so far.
